From Tuesday, November 29 until Sunday, December 4, people can come face-to-face with flying dinosaurs, hummingbirds and butterflies in an immersive VR experience.
Titled Conquest of the Skies VR, this is the first time that Sir David has narrated a project of this kind.
The installation will also feature an immersive projection of a special cut of the film, exclusively for in-person visitors to experience.
The free experience allows visitors to interact with flying creatures in augmented reality.
Holding up your phone and scanning a QR code to open Meta Spark filters, you can learn more about the speed and scale of dinosaurs and hummingbirds, as the exhibit takes you through the evolution of flight. Meta Quest 2 headsets are also available to help fully immerse you in the experience.
“Conquest of Skies is a story of transcendence and evolution that humbles you in the presence of these ancient pioneers of the heavens,” said Lewis Ball, director at Alchemy Immersive, the company behind the VR experience. “The sense of being in that space and in that moment with these creatures could only be achieved through the power of immersive technologies — and now with this optimized cut of the series, viewers get to share the experience with others.
“It’s truly a unique presentation of a natural history documentary and one that will leave a lasting impression on viewers.”
The experience is in the Atrium of Westfield in White City, West London. It is being held every day between 11am and 7pm from November 29 until December 4.
