Boy George’s Hampstead mansion on sale for £17m | News

Boy George has put his grade II listed, six-bedroom gothic mansion up for sale for £17 million.

The 19th-century property, which overlooks Hampstead Heath in north London, features a meditation room, a mezzanine cinema and a roof terrace.

George, whose real name is George O’Dowd, bought the house in the mid-1980s while still a member of the band Culture Club.

It was built in 1868 and now covers 5,453 square feet after merging with neighboring properties

The 61-year-old has spent large sums on renovations which include merging with neighboring homes and a three-year project to extend the property and increase the amount of natural light.

The singer had to fight with Camden council in 2015 after the proposals were initially rejected and described as “over-dominant” and “incongruous”.
